Many of you can probably devote a good portion of your days debating on what makes a good thumb dip. In fact depending on your religiosity level and the time you spent learning gemara can also greatly effect the intensity of your thumb dipping abilities. For those who took the easy way out and learned from Artscrolls- they tend to have weaker thumb dip and other learning guy hand motions that come with slamming their hands at worn and tattered gemaras all day. You know the type of untouched old shas sets that many folks receive for their weddings- yet remain untouched gathering dust on the bottom of the book case they have holding their flat screen TV’s. I found this amazing video comparing a yeshiva bochur who lost his ability to thumb dip and learn- to good old Rocky Balboa. It was made by guys attending the yeshiva in Rochester where I went to high school.

Awesome! Though, did anyone else pick up on the fact that Rocky forgot the whole Right, Left, Right thing when he put his shoes on in the morning? No wonder he got trounced on his first shtige.

A video like this truly makes me realize that youtube was created for the amusement of yeshiva kids. It’s the logical extension of a purim spiel.

Oh well it has gone through a transition, but basically its a yeshiva but its much more modern than many schools even for a chofetz chaim.
Many of the kids do have issues, like single parent households and ADD. In the past there were drug issues but now its more alcohol and cigs like most yeshivas.
The people who are going nuts on that other post are mostly talking about communal issues- since the yeshiva has been at odds with the community ever since its inception really and both sides are at fault.
Of course its deeply inbeded in the community already- so no one can do anything but bicker and tell loshon horah. Hey thats what I am doing right now.

LOL!! Yeah I guess, but I saw the videos and I know a guy or 2 who go there, they are in Bais Medrash, almost a year out of High School, and they seem like good kids. But then again there are some kids who do kinda look like trouble, but then again who am I to judge. LOL!

Who are you, “frumbutwithit?” How dare you speak such horrible slander about this Yeshiva. First of all, everyone in this video is truly a great person who with the help of TIUNY turned themselves around and “chose life.” It happens to be that TIUNY does take in some kids that might have difficult family situations, and many of these kids end up staying after High school and are learning full time bais medrash. And even the one’s that don’t end up staying, they are certainly changed men even after one year. I could give name after name of people I know who this Yeshiva has done wonders for.
This is a wonderful yeshiva and Klal Yisroel is blessed that it exists.

And I totally agree with you- though TIUNY will unfortunately forever be known as a reject yeshiva. Not as bad as say Adelphia or Priority one- but it is still a rough place.
I can name you 100 people I know who are great kids who went there- I can name you very few folks who are not frum at all. Proving your point. But the video rocks man.

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times
it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual
appearance. I must say you’ve done a excellent job with this.
Additionally, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Firefox.
Exceptional Blog!
